Premier League champions Chelsea always put on a show for their kit launches and with Jose Mourinho’s men plotting to earn their boss his third Champions League trophy, this year looks like having a special edge for the West London team.

Chelsea’s trademark blue is the story of the kit with adidas leading with the ethos ‘If it’s not blue, it will be’, which serves to represent the determination of Roman Abramovich’s side to dominate every competition they enter.

Set to be worn on their pre-season tour to the US next week, the new kit will see competition with the New York Red Bulls, Barcelona and Paris St Germain, those after being given a formal reveal in Harlem.

With blue as the inspiration, the shirt design sticks to the traditions of the club by taking inspiration from several classic 1980s shirts by using design features that made those strips such iconic fan favourites. Those elements include the white and red trims on the collar, sleeves, shorts and socks as well as the vertical pinstripes. There is something brand new to the Chelsea kit included in the design though and that is a unique finger print woven onto a label on each shirt.
