Champions League FInal XI

Ahead of big matches we love to mix the two sides up to create an ultimate XI, and what bigger match in club football than the Champions League Final? We’re just a day away from the Barcelona and Juventus clash in Berlin, so we’ve had a sit down and tried to compile the best of both teams.

Remember, each team must have at least five representatives!

Champions League FInal XI

There wasn’t much difficulty in choosing who goes between the sticks. Marc-Andre ter Stegen is a talent but Juve’s Gianluigi Buffon has been world class for a long, long time. The Champions League is the one trophy Buffon hasn’t got his hands on yet, and at 37 years old this may well be his last chance at doing so. Expect a mammoth performance from the World Cup winning Italian.

At the back there is a place for Dani Alves, who is making his last appearance for Barcelona, on the right. Giorgio Chiellini would have been a shoe-in for our XI, but his injury during the week means he misses the match and his central defensive partner Leonardo Bonucci steps in instead.

We just couldn’t justify breaking up the deadly ‘MSN’ forward trio for Barca, so we opted for their 4-3-3 system rather than Juve’s 4-3-1-2. Arturo Vidal is the big victim in that respect, but his Juventus team-mates Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba make the cut and bring the Juve contingent up to our minimum requirement of five players. Barca’s six suggests they have the better team going into tomorrow, but anything can happen!
