Last night saw Cristiano Ronaldo edge ever-closer to the all-time Champions League goalscoring record with an incredible strike against Liverpool in Real Madrid’s comfortable 0-3 victory at Anfield and this morning the Portuguese superstar took the opportunity to introduce the world to his brand new boot, the shimmering Mercurial Superfly CR7.

The new CR7 collection, which is available as a high and low top boot, is the second since Nike launched the Mercurial Superfly earlier this year, but the latest drop features a brand new innovation. Given a shimmering effect, the black boots will catch the sun or flood lights and highlight the fact that Cristiano is a man who shines on the biggest of stages.

The Mercurial Superfly CR7 continues to be built with velocity in mind, with its dynamic fit collar that locks the player down at speed, the micro-textured Nike Flyknit upper providing a barefoot-like feel and the highly responsive carbon-fiber plate that is designed to lock into the ground and offer quick release for explosive pace in all directions.

The new Mercurial CR7 is also available as a Mercurial Vapor X, with the more traditional speed focused boot allowing players to decide which collar height is best for them. Vapor features a tongue-less upper that wraps the foot for locked-down fit, and a micro-textured synthetic upper.

Cristiano unveiled his new CR7 boots in Instagram this morning as he and his dominant Real Madrid team prepare to play bitter rivals Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season this weekend, the game in which Ronaldo will debut the shimmering footwear on pitch.

The Mercurial Superfly CR7 and Mercurial Vapor CR7 are both out early next month.
